Mission coherent infrastructure

We are a global platform, information and operations security consultancy in service to NGOs, impact-driven organisations and grassroots movements

A brave new world

Digital infrastructure is the backbone of any modern organisation or movement, yet with that comes new risks. Those rising up for people and planet are hosting sensitive information on the servers of tech giants, and often in jurisdictions well beyond their own. Mission-critical decisions and actions are shared using platforms run by companies whose opaque data-sharing agreements with governments and other enterprises can quietly undermine whole operations. Companies are also bought and sold, terms change, with the dangers of vendor lock-in ever present.

It doesn’t need to be this way.

Our consultancy will ensure your organisation or movement finds best-fit, best-practice and mission-coherent solutions for your work. From information and operations security auditing, to managed and self-hosted infrastructure solutions, migration-pathways and platform training, Nīkau will help your organisation find a safer, stronger and more productive path through this brave new world.

ˈniːkaʊ

Nīkau palms have long had importance in Māori life. The world’s most southern palm, its leaves were used to thatch houses, to wrap food before cooking, and to weave into hats, mats, baskets, and leggings for travelling through rough undergrowth. From the outer portion of the trunk, Māori made storage containers and pots. The hard berries were made into necklaces or eaten when green. The immature flower is edible and can be cooked and eaten like cauliflower.

An inextricable part of Aotearoa’s ancient forest biomes, the bright red nīkau fruits take about one year to ripen and are an important food source for native birds, particularly the wood pigeon/kererū and kākā. This incredible southern palm symbolises everything our consultancy stands for - to provide shelter, nourishment, tools and protection for world-changing organisations to grow.
